S&T Policy Planning Experts from MSIP Explore the Differences between Taiwan and Korea2016/01/04
Accompanied by Dr. Yun Jong Kim, the Research Fellow of Korea Institute of S&T Evaluation and Planning (KISTEP), a MSIP (Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning) delegation led by Mr. Jae-Wuk Jung visits STPI couple of days before the New Year’s Eve. Mr. Jae-Wuk Jung, an expert in S&T policy planning, is the Senior Deputy Director in Science and Technology Policy Division in MSIP. He is surprised to learn numerous similarities between Taiwan and Korea in the mechanism of S&T policy decision making in the discussion meeting hosted by STPI Director General Yuh-Jzer Joung.
STPI arranges 3 presentations in order to answer the questions raised by the delegation prior to their visit. They are “STPI Introduction”, “S&T Policy Decision Making System in Taiwan” and “The Review, Implementation and Performance Evaluation of National S&T Plan in Taiwan”.
Mr. Jung mentions that there is a great possibility of cooperation among MSIP, KISTEP and STPI since they share very similar job tasks to serve the government in Korea and Taiwan. In the coming years KISTEP and STPI shall not only share the success of S&T policy making mechanism, but also focus on the research in the ex-post evaluation of National S&T Plan in that both Taiwan and Korea government haven’t put much emphasis on this subject.
